SIS Financial Literacy Education Program (FLEP)

The Financial Literacy Education Project (FLEP), sponsored by Sisters In Spirit (SIS), targets young women who want to take control of their personal finances and live a prosperous life buoyed by confidence!

SIS launched The Financial Literacy Education Program for women and girls designed to educate participants on how to establish sound financial habits and actively participate in their own financial well-being. This program is free of charge and is partially funded by a Community Action Grant from the American Association of University Women.

Some of the most savvy financial advisors, bankers, entrepreneurs, credit experts and abundance consciousness spiritual and motivational speakers in the country participated in this ten-month financial literacy program. Personal financial literacy is the ability to use knowledge and skills to manage financial resources effectively for a lifetime of financial well-being. Financial education is the process by which people improve their understanding of financial products, services and concepts, so they are empowered to make informed choices, avoid pitfalls, know where to go for help and take other actions to improve their present and long-term financial well-being. Young women need to be financially literate as they prepare for completing high school, entering college, and starting their careers. In the promotion of personal and economic empowerment among women to improve their quality of life, this program helps development strong concepts and complex thinking about personal finance with the goal of building the foundation for a financially secure future.

Due to a grant from the Association of American University Women, SIS was able to provide these seminars free. Course material is available for download here.

Bi-annually SIS sponsors events that promote financial literacy. Check out our calendar of events here.
